Ideas

Outdoor wedding idea:
Have each guest bring one flower. Place all of the flowers in a circle. When you exchange your vows, do it inside the circle of flowers. A great money saver that is really special. As with other flowers from you wedding, you can have them died and make potpourri.

Reception Idea:
One couple put together a slide show to show during their reception. They showed slides of themselves as babies up through their early dating period. They prepared a great narration with music and quotes from family members. Great idea.

Reception Idea:
Make the event both fun and educational.. You’ll find the guests really enjoy things if you hire, say, a hula instructor to get the guests up out of their seats. One couple reports they hired a salsa/swing dancing instructor and everybody was on the floor having a blast.

Tips

Consider a wedding at a botanical garden. You’ll save a lot on flowers and decorations.

Prepare a supply kit for you and the bridesmaids!
Have a designated helper carry it to all locations for minor emergencies. The kit should include: Tissues, safety pins,  small snacks or protein bars, water &, paper cups, nail glue, extra pantyhose, blotting papers, cotton swabs, bobby pins, extra hair spray, clear nail polish (for pantyhose runs), anti-cling spray.  You'll find this supply bag gets a LOT of use!!

Check back with the store(s) you registered at about a month before the wedding to make sure that the items you selected are still available and in stock.

Wedding guests are not suppose to begin dancing until after the bride and groom have had their first dance. If you worry that things might get boring and want people to begin dancing early, be sure to schedule you’re the you and your spouse’s dance early on.

At the reception, start making your rounds saying hello very early on. You’ll be surprised how time flies as you catch up with old friends you haven’s seen in years and you’ll run out of time if your not careful. Start early so you can enjoy and not rush.

No matter how much planning you do, something will go wrong. Accept this up front, and it shouldn’t you so much when it happens.

Order return address labels early on with both your names and wedding date on them. Inexpensive ones can be found in the coupon section or in junk mail you receive. 500 Labels are about 5.95, and you’ll find tons of uses for them. They can be used as seal on thank you cards… or put on favors, like bubbles, at the table.

Hotel receptions - Make sure they guarantee not to change the room rates for your guests staying there.

Got time but not a lot of money… Start early and MAKE things yourself. Make your own invitations, programs. Go to crafts stores like Michaels to get ideas for making centerpieces, thank you cards, even favors.

Alphabetize your place cards, put them in a box or envelope that way for easy placement later.

Try not to see your spouse the day of the wedding at all. You’ll find that the first moment you see each other during the ceremony can be a very emotional and wonderful moment.
